The Snow Queen Theatre for Pollocks
Availability: In stock.
The Pollock’s Toy Theatre was first produced in Victorian London as a souvenir of the live theatre. Magical, jewel like boxes with cardboard characters and paper scenes, the model theatre is an enchanting three dimensional miniature world which conjures up the delight of the stage.
Benjamin Pollock’s Toyshop of Covent Garden, London is now continuing the tradition with a series of paper models designed by contemporary artists and designers. Kate Baylay is a book illustrator whose, dark but decorative pictures of fairy tales are inspired by the ‘Golden Age’ of illustration. Known for her illustrations for the Folio Society, Kate’s original design for Pollock’s Toyshop is a charming three-dimensional theatre with scenes from The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen. The decorative, embossed Pollock’s Folder unties with a pretty ribbon and contains 6 x A4 prints that can be cut out and made into a model theatre. The model is easy to make though it does require scoring, folding and cutting with a craft knife. When completed, the theatre has a change of two scenes with characters from the Snow Queen, a simple synopsis is also included.
